Web Traffic Genius – What is it? What does it do? Is it worth the money? I’ve got those answers and more right here.

Web Traffic Genius is a WordPress Plugin and standalone software package that creates RSS feeds for all of your posts and pages and automatically submits those feeds to a selection of RSS aggregators, also called RSS distributors. (Hot Tip - create several different accounts at the aggregators that require you to register. This will leave a more natural footprint)

Created by Anthony & Tim Buchalka (aka The Marketing Assassins), I first heard about it in one of the popular marketing forums and after watching the videos and reading the sales letter, I decided to give it a try. Man, am I glad I did. This baby rocks!

Before I get into the complete review, let me show you the “proof of the pudding”…

Web Traffic Genius – The Results Video

So now that you’ve seen it really works, let me tell you more about it.

The current list of aggregators it submits to contains 20 addresses, but one of them is currently out of commission and one of those that requires set-up is for a site in Danish and I didn’t spot an easy link to an English version of the site so I passed on that one.

One of the better aggregators, feedage.com, has recently gone to a captcha submission page so it is also not available as I write this review. In the excellent customer support forums, Tim and Anthony are gathering customer requests for the new version (free update) that will soon be released that should have either an automated solver or a way to present captchas to the owner when he or she logs into the blog.

So I was left with 17 working RSS aggregators, which is a very decent number.

“Extrafeeds”

The “Extrafeeds” feature is what really makes this software stand out from the crowd, in my opinion. Here’s how it works…

Since many of the aggregators will not accept feeds with only one item (like a single blog post) Web Traffic Genius allows you to create a list of feeds it will automatically “add on” to the original post feed. You have control of the number of extrafeeds and I usually set mine at a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8.

The interesting question is just what feeds are you going to add?

One of the obvious answers is the feeds of your other websites. Since the feeds get their relevance from their content and since the content is still coming from its home URL, it doesn’t matter if a feed from an apples site is added to the feed of an oranges site, they all still maintain their Google love. (Hot Tip – Use the Extrafeeds to create “deep” links to featured individual posts and pages and not just the top level domain name of your additional sites)

Here’s one of my personal “ninja tricks” to really amp this feature up to 11.

There’s a very under-utilized feature in WordPress RSS feeds that allows you to create keyword specific feeds. Here’s the syntax if you wanted to create a feed for the keywords “cheap widgets”:

http://example.com/feed?s=cheap+widgets

Naturally, you will want to choose keywords highly relevant to your content and well represented in your posts and pages. You could also create feeds for your keywords to a specific category or post by the use of the permalink structure. Like this:

http://example.com/industrial/widgets/feed?s=cheap

or this:

http://example.com/industrial/feed?s=cheap

Now here’s where it gets really crazy. These keyword feeds can come from any site! One of the ways to take advantage of that would be to create two or three keyword feeds for every post and page on the site that is hosting the plugin. You have just tripled or quadrupled the number of backlinks you can make to your site! And, if you have other sites, you can do the same thing for them! This is truly a powerful feature if you take full advantage of it.

Bonuses

I’m not going to say anything about the bonuses except that they are really, really, good. Pure gold.

Pros and Cons

Pros – Creates massive backlinks! Once it is set-up it works completely on auto-pilot. Easy to follow installation videos. Good support. Good forums.

Cons – Setup is time consuming and a bit “techy” (but not much). If you’re adding it to an existing site with tons of posts and pages, you’ll want to set it up for “cron” jobs to post existing content. Good installation videos make it a snap.

Bottom Line

I’ve used this plugin for a couple of months now and I truly think it rocks! I’ve installed it on all of my sites (including this one) and my rankings and traffic have shown significant improvement that is sure to continue. I will be using this on all my sites from now on and can heartily recommend it to all internet marketers.
